Early Life and Dance Career
Tate’s journey into the world of dance began at the age of six when she started taking ballet lessons. Her mother, Tanja Rosner, a dance instructor, and her father, Todd McRae, a lawyer, played pivotal roles in nurturing her talent. The family moved to Oman when Tate was four, where she attended The American International School Muscat (TAISM). Upon returning to Calgary, she continued her dance training at YYC Dance Project and the School of Alberta Ballet.
Tate gained widespread recognition as the first Canadian finalist on the American reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation in 2016. She also won the Mini Best Female Dancer award at the 2013 Dance Awards in New York City. Her exceptional talent earned her a brand ambassadorship with Capezio, a renowned dance manufacturer.

In 2017, Tate released her debut song, “One Day,” which caught the attention of RCA Records. She went on to release two successful extended plays (EPs): All the Things I Never Said (2020) and Too Young to Be Sad (2021). The latter became the most streamed female EP on Spotify in 2021, thanks to the hit single “You Broke Me First,” which peaked at number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Tate’s debut studio album, I Used to Think I Could Fly (2022), peaked at number 13 on the US Billboard 200.
